Job Description
The Department of English at the University of Missouri-Kansas City is seeking a tenure-track faculty member in Creative Writing at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin August 2024. We seek applicants who work within and across two or more genres, including poetry, fiction, creative non-fiction, hybrid genres, playwriting, and screenwriting. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the ongoing development of a thriving Creative Writing program at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, as our department offers both a BA in English with a Creative Writing Emphasis and an interdisciplinary MFA degree. In addition to Creative Writing workshops, the successful candidate should expect to teach the occasional general education course or other classes according to the needs of the Department.
Minimum Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be a writer with at least one published book, as well as other distinguished publications, and have experience in teaching undergraduate students. A PhD or MFA in Creative Writing or a closely related field should be completed by the start of the position.
Salary
Salary is negotiable and commensurate with experience and qualifications.
