The English Department at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge invites applications for a tenure‐track position in English Education at the level of assistant professor to begin August 2024. Teaching responsibilities include courses in the teaching of English Language Arts in middle and high schools, as well as undergraduate and graduate courses in related fields. We are also looking for candidates who can successfully mentor and support future educators and can foster an inclusive environment inside and outside the classroom.

 

This is a full‐time, nine‐month position in the English Department with opportunities for collaboration with the School of Education. The position requires commitments to research, teaching, and service.

 

Teaching Expectations: The teaching load is 2/2 and consists of relevant undergraduate courses in English Secondary Education, such as ENGL 3203 (Introduction to English Secondary Education), ENGL4203 (Research and Writing in the Teaching of English), and ENGL 4204 (Capstone Seminar in English Education), as well as graduate courses in English Education and related fields.

 

Research Expectations: A well-planned research and publishing agenda at the level of an R1 record is required to meet the expectations for tenure-track faculty.

 

Required Qualifications:  Ph.D. in English Education or closely related field by the start date of August 2024.

 

Preferred Qualifications: Applicants with successful teaching experience at the middle or high school level in English Language Arts, evidence of scholarly productivity, and a commitment to cross‐institutional partnerships are of particular interest.
