The Department of Spanish at Agnes Scott College in Atlanta, GA invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professorship in Latin American and U.S. Latinx literatures and cultures (specific field open) effective August, 2024. Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate knowledge of the diversity of the Spanish-speaking world and are willing to teach a wide variety of undergraduate courses at all levels including introductory language, advanced literature and culture, and Spanish for the professions. As part of the typical 3-2 course load, faculty at Agnes Scott teach in the core “Summit” program of global and leadership studies.
Candidates must demonstrate excellence in teaching and potential for meaningful contributions to the scholarship of their area(s) of specialization. In addition, they must address the challenges of teaching world languages in the 21st century and understand what it means to teach at a small yet diverse and inclusive liberal arts college for women. Individuals with a commitment to mentoring students from diverse backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply. Ph.D. in Spanish or a closely related field and native or near-native proficiency in Spanish are required.
