Assistant Professor or Instructor of English, Tenure-Track, in Creative Writing: Poetry

Franklin & Marshall College invites applications from poets for a tenure-track position in the Department of English beginning August 2024. The rank will be Assistant Professor or Instructor depending on qualifications.

Qualifications

We seek applicants with significant creative publications, including at least one book of poetry published or under contract, and a demonstrated commitment to undergraduate teaching. Applicants should have or be close to completing a terminal degree (M.F.A. or Ph.D.). The 3/2 teaching load will include Introduction to Creative Writing, Writing Poetry, a senior creative writing capstone course, Contemporary Poetry, and courses that build on the Department’s offerings, including contributions to the College’s general education program, Connections. Teaching will not include composition. We particularly seek candidates who can diversify the range of perspectives and approaches practiced in the department. The poet we seek will become part of a thriving writing community, which includes a Writers House, an impressive reading series, and the F&M Emerging Writers Festival. F&M sponsors junior faculty leaves. F&M Faculty maintain active research programs and contribute to the College’s shared governance.
