Professor of Practice of Expository Writing
The Expository Writing Program at Tulane University is seeking multiple candidates for career-track positions of Professors of Practice for Fall 2024. These hires will have joint appointments with the Department of English and the writing program. The teaching load is three sections per semester of expository writing, including first-year composition, in small class sections. Additional duties include active participation in discussions of pedagogy and curriculum with fellow colleagues. Professors of Practice are hired on an initial three-year contract, renewable with the possibility of promotion and longer contracts, upon successful review.
Candidates must have experience teaching composition. A PhD in Rhetoric and Composition, English, or related humanities field, or equivalent terminal degree, is required. We are seeking candidates with a wide range of disciplinary expertise and with the ability and interest in contributing to the development of an expanded writing program. Opportunities may include teaching courses dedicated to writing about quantitative, scientific, and technical information; ethnographic writing and writing for the social sciences; and/or research-based academic argumentive writing.
