Associate or Full Professor of English – Fiction

The Department of English and the Programs in Writing at the University of California, Irvine, is conducting a search for an associate or full professor. Candidates are expected to have a record of distinguished publication in fiction, including at least two completed books. Candidates need to have a strong commitment to the studio arts model of teaching and will be expected to teach both graduate and undergraduate level courses.

Requirements: Candidates must hold an MA, MFA, and/or Ph.D.

The online application includes: a cover letter, curriculum vitae with a full list of publications, a reflective teaching statement, a diversity statement, and a list of references. Review of applications will begin October 22, 2019 and continue until the position is filled (start date is July 2020). Applications completed by October 21, 2019 will be granted full consideration.

For guidelines on how to prepare a reflective teaching statement see https://ap.uci.edu/faculty/guidance/teachstatement/. This statement should:

  1. Indicate the candidate’s teaching experiences to date, including experience with teaching undergraduates/graduate students, or other populations, as well as their areas of interest. This should also include mentorship that they have given to others in the line of research or outreach activities.
