Job Description: This position as a composition and writing instructor carries a 4/4 teaching load that includes primarily courses in the first-year composition sequence. A successful candidate will demonstrate effectiveness in teaching composition and rhetoric, especially teaching writing to developmental learners. Knowledge of current composition pedagogy and experience teaching first-year writing and developmental writing courses is expected, and a background in Basic Writing Pedagogy and Curriculum development is highly desirable. Additional desirable experience or skills could include the ability to: incorporate new media and other appropriate technologies into the writing classroom, teach general linguistics or modern/contemporary literature (of any genre or nationality), work with ESL students, or teach online and/or distance learning.
Job Responsibilities: The University of Tennessee at Martin has traditional tenure requirements in teaching, research, and service, with primary focus on quality teaching.
Minimum Qualifications: PhD in English by August 1, 2024.
