ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF ENGLISH: The Department of English invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor. The person appointed to this position will teach in the area of English Education. Additional duties will include advising and curriculum/program development in English Single Subject Matter Preparation (SSMP) and may include collaboration with local secondary schools and teaching courses in other areas of English studies. Effective teaching, scholarly productivity, and service to the University are required for retention, promotion, and tenure. This position is contingent upon the availability of authorized funding.
A Ph.D. in English, English Education, or related field is required. Other minimum qualifications include a minimum of 3 years of successful English Language Arts teaching at the secondary level.
A candidate’s consideration will be enhanced by providing evidence of work with a diverse student population, ability to teach other courses related to English studies (literature, writing, etc.), and relevant research and publication. As a department in a designated Hispanic-Serving Institution, we seek candidates with experience teaching and mentoring historically underrepresented students.
