Assistant Professor of Korean

The Department of World Languages, Literatures & Cultures at Auburn University invites applications for a tenure-track position, Assistant Professor in Korean, starting Fall Semester 2024. This position has a 3-2 teaching load and will include instruction of undergraduate Korean language and culture.

Required qualifications: the successful candidate for this position must be a generalist with a PhD in Korean or related field such as Comparative Literature (specialization open, e.g., Literature, Linguistics, or Film Studies) at the time employment begins and have native or nearnative fluency in Korean and English. Applicants must provide evidence of teaching excellence at the college level and of potential for successful research and scholarly/professional activities. A deep awareness of effective language pedagogies and innovative course curricula, is highly desirable. The successful candidate will be expected to strengthen the Korean program and to participate in extra-curricular activities in coordination with the Korea Center-King Sejong Institute (such as Chuseok, Korea Fest and the K-Pop Party) to help promote enrollment and participation in the Korean program.

The candidate selected for this position must meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time of the appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment.
