Assistant Professor of Spanish (2 tenure-track positions)

The University of Maine at Farmington seeks to hire two Assistant Professors for tenure-track positions in Spanish beginning Fall, 2020. Primary teaching responsibilities for both positions will be Spanish language classes from beginning to advanced levels. In addition, we seek coverage for courses in Peninsular literature and cultures and in Latin American studies, as well as for Arabic language classes through the intermediate level. Teaching load 3/3. PhD required for tenure, along with an active research agenda.

Qualifications: PhD in Spanish or related field by the time of position start date. College teaching experience. Commitment to and enthusiasm for undergraduate language teaching. Ability to teach Spanish language at all levels and ability to teach courses in 2 -3 of the following areas: Peninsular literature and cultures, Latin American studies, and Arabic Language classes through the intermediate level. Native or near native proficiency in Spanish and English. Demonstrated promise of scholarly excellence. Interest in study abroad and language pedagogy desired.
