The Hofstra University Department of English invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position specializing in African American and/or African Diasporic literatures to begin September 1, 2024. Specialists in all historical periods, literary forms, and critical approaches are encouraged to apply. Candidates must have completed all PhD requirements by the start date.

Opportunities for teaching include courses in the candidate’s areas of specialization as well as introductory and advanced courses for majors and non-majors. Such opportunities also include teaching in interdisciplinary programs, including Africana Studies, Latin American and Caribbean Studies, Disability Studies, Women’s Studies, LGBTQ+ Studies, and Honors College.
