The College of Liberal Arts and Department of English at Texas State University invites applications for a Tenure-track Assistant Professor in creative writing for Texas State’s nationally recognized MFA in Creative Writing.
We seek candidates proven to be highly effective teachers of Creative Writing. The successful candidate should have experience teaching creative writing workshops and literature courses at the college level and a significant record of creative writing publication in nationally recognized venues. We seek a creative writer—open genre.
The successful applicant is to teach two courses per semester, supervise theses, and conduct research that leads to publication. The candidate will be expected to teach MFA workshops and seminars. Appointment begins Fall 2024. This position is subject to the availability of funds.
Required Qualifications
- MFA or PhD in Creative Writing/English in hand at time of appointment
- At least one book published (genre open)
- Experience teaching advanced creative writing workshops and/or seminars
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching MFA workshops and/or seminars
- A record of publication on the national level
- Experience mentoring students
- Experience teaching underrepresented students
