Assistant Professor

The Department of Translation and Interpretation at Bilkent University invites applications for two full-time Assistant Professors positions for English and/or French courses, starting September 2024. Applicants should hold a PhD in Translation Studies or related subjects at the time of appointment. All candidates must also have an active research agenda.

The Translation and Interpretation Department at Bilkent University is a dynamic and highly respected program that prepares students for careers in the translation and interpreting fields. The department offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs in translation and interpreting.  The department is home to a diverse faculty of experienced academics who are committed to helping students develop the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in the field. Students have the opportunity to learn from experts in a wide range of specialties, including translation studies, technical translation, legal translation, and conference interpreting.

Bilkent University, located in suburban Ankara, is a non-profit foundation university supported by its own endowment. It is home to a vibrant international community. As research is a priority at Bilkent University, its support includes grants for conference travel and the possibility of sabbatical leave after the third year. Successful applicants will benefit from a reduced teaching load during the first two years.
