Assistant Professor of Italian

 

The Department of World Languages, Literatures, & Cultures at High Point University invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Italian (Non-Tenure Track). The position is set to begin in August 2024.

 

The area of specialization is open. The successful candidate can expect to teach a 4/3 course load, which may include, but is not limited to, introductory and intermediate language, literature, and culture courses at the undergraduate level. The successful candidate should also be willing to contribute to study abroad programs.

 

We are particularly interested in candidates well-versed in current pedagogies, proficient in educational technology both in and out of the classroom, and committed to student-centered teaching.

 

Experience and interest in program development and retention are desirable qualifications.

 

Requirements: PhD or ABD in Italian, Second Language Acquisition, Comparative Literature, or a related field (to be completed by the date of appointment), near-native or native fluency in Italian and English. Demonstrated excellence in undergraduate language teaching is critical.

 

The position will remain open until filled. Priority will be given to applications submitted before November 12, 2023. Candidates must have the legal authorization to work in the United States. High Point University does not sponsor H1-B Visas.
