The Department of Spanish and Portuguese Studies at the University of Florida, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences invites applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor of Peninsular Spanish literature and culture with expertise in Digital Humanities. This is a full-time, nine-month, tenure-accruing position with a start date of August 16, 2024. The field of specialization within Peninsular Spanish studies is open but preference will be given to candidates whose research and teaching relate to contemporary Spain. Secondary interests in postcolonial approaches to culture or transatlantic studies are welcome.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach graduate and undergraduate courses in the areas of Peninsular Spanish literature and culture and Digital Humanities, advise graduate students, conduct research, publish actively, and provide service to the Department, College, and University, including contributing to the College’s Certificate in Digital Humanities. Applicants must show evidence of scholarly promise or accomplishment in relevant research areas, a commitment to excellence in teaching and student mentoring, and native or near-native proficiency in both Spanish and English. Candidates at the Associate Professor level must have a record of academic excellence that meets or exceeds the University of Florida’s criteria for tenure upon hire and will be expected to provide service and leadership commensurate with a senior faculty position.
