Position Summary:
The Department of English at the University of South Florida seeks to appoint TWO 9-month, full-time and tenure-track Assistant Professors in Creative Writing. The appointment start date is August 7, 2024. Salary is commensurate with the post of Assistant Professor. Review of applications will begin on 12/11/2023.
QUALIFICATIONS (Education & Experience):
Minimum Qualifications:
An MFA or Doctoral degree from an accredited institution is required prior to August 7, 2024, with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching creative writing, publishing creative writing, and service. To receive consideration, applicants must have at least one book published or a book under contract. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor.
Preferred Qualifications:
One of these positions is open genre, including but not limited to fiction, nonfiction, comics/graphic narrative, digital storytelling, hybrid genres, and or young adult literatures. For one of the positions, preference will be given to writers working in the field of poetry. Preference will be given in one position to a writer working in Latin literatures. The ability to teach in multiple genres as well as students from diverse backgrounds is welcome.
