The Department of Social and Cultural Analysis at New York University invites applications for an open rank search (tenure-track or tenured) in the field of Native American Studies.

We especially welcome applications from scholars whose research relates to urban indigeneity, Critical Indigenous Theory, settler colonialism, literature, Indigenous resurgence and governance, Queer Studies, Indigenous pedagogies, environmental studies, and/or language revitalization. We encourage applications from scholars who work in collaboration with First Nations or Native American nations and whose research engages with Indigenous communities.

The Department of Social and Cultural Analysis is comprised of programs including American Studies, Gender and Sexuality Studies, Metropolitan Studies, Africana Studies, Latino Studies, and Asian/Pacific/American Studies. Applicants who can speak to one or more of these fields and have an interest in building Indigenous Studies curriculum/programming at NYU are encouraged to apply. The appointment will begin on September 1, 2020, subject to budgetary and administrative approval. Applications must include a cover letter, CV, and a research statement. Entry-level applicants should provide names and contact information of three recommenders. Ph.D. in hand by 9/1/2020 required.
