Position: Assistant Instructional Professor, German Language and Culture

The Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures at the University of Florida (www.languages.ufl.edu), College of Liberal Arts and Sciences invites applications for a full-time, nine-month, Assistant Instructional Professor position in German Language and Culture, to begin August 16, 2024. This is a full-time, renewable, nine-month non-tenure accruing position.
Duties: 1) contribute to the development and teaching of German courses (including online), and the supervision and coordination of graduate teaching assistants and/or adjunct instructors; 2) provide extracurricular support of the German program through service that includes placement testing, weekly language tables, and other activities relating to experiential learning opportunities such as study abroad. The typical teaching assignment for a lecturer is three courses per semester.
Requirements: MA required but PhD preferred in German language or culture, or relevant area such second language acquisition, linguistics and language pedagogy, with 2 years’ experience teaching German at the university level. Experience with online learning is essential. Native or near-native proficiency in German and English are required; US college/university-level teaching experience highly preferred.
