The thriving, multi-language Department of World Languages, Literatures, and Cultures at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants specializing in Japanese for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position (#124220) at the rank of assistant or associate professor. The start date for the position is August 1, 2024.
The successful candidate will have native or near-native Japanese and English proficiency and demonstrate excellence and commitment to scholarly research and teaching. Responsibilities include teaching Japanese language courses at all levels and in the candidate’s specialization, working collaboratively to continue the growth of the Japanese program, publishing research in the area(s) of the candidate's specialization, participating in departmental and university service, and other departmental duties as needed.
A terminal degree in Japanese, Second Language Acquisition, Foreign Language Education/Pedagogy, Japanese Literature, Linguistics or Applied Linguistics, East Asian Studies, Translation Studies, Cultural Studies, or a closely related field is required by the appointment date.
