Humanities: Lecturer, non-tenure-track, College of General Studies, Boston University

Two-year, full-time appointment, with possibility of renewal, in an undergraduate interdisciplinary program. The College of General Studies is a small liberal-arts college within a large research university. We value the different voices that make up our community and welcome colleagues who complement and enhance rather than reproduce our existing areas of expertise. Because ours is a general education program, we seek applicants who have a broad knowledge of literature and the arts, an interest in full student participation, experience in the teaching of the humanities or a humanities-related field, as well as an investment in experiential education and mentoring students from a variety of backgrounds. We are especially interested in candidates whose research, teaching and/or service have prepared them to contribute to engagement with and inclusion of culturally diverse audiences in higher education, and particularly in the humanities.

The position entails teaching survey courses in literature and the arts in our first-year program.  The contract begins July 2024, followed by collaborative curricular planning alongside faculty from other departments throughout the Fall. Teaching at our Boston campus starts in January 2025 and continues with a highly experiential summer semester at our campus in London, U.K. Ph.D. (or ABD if defense is pending) in a humanities-related field, especially but not limited to literature and the arts, and teaching experience at the college level required.
