Job Description:
The Department of English Language and Literature at Weber State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Composition & Rhetoric with a secondary interest in Technical Writing. We welcome applications from candidates with expertise in any area of composition/rhetoric and technical writing, including but not limited to composition pedagogy, digital media, grant writing, project management, social justice, UX design, and/or writing program administration. Candidates will be expected to teach first-year courses in composition and second-year courses in technical writing. We seek a candidate who demonstrates a strong commitment to undergraduate education and the needs of a diverse student body in the context of an open-enrollment public university.
Job Duties:
Expectations for this position include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, engaging in research, providing service to the department, college, and university, and a demonstrated commitment to student success.

The Weber State University English department houses undergraduate programs in literature, creative writing, professional and technical writing, linguistics, and English education, as well as a Master of Arts program. Founded in 1889, Weber State University is located 35 miles north of downtown Salt Lake City in Ogden, Utah, which is considered the northern edge of the Salt Lake City metro area. Physical Requirements of this position: Light work. Exerting up to 20 lbs of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Use of arm and/or leg controls exerting forces greater than that for sedentary work.
Visual Acuity Requirements including color, depth perception and field of vision: Required to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; using a computer terminal; extensive reading.
