The Department of English at Oklahoma State University seeks an open-rank, tenure-track faculty in rhetoric and writing studies to serve as the Director of First-Year Composition. The person hired for this position will teach a 1-1 load with substantive responsibilities in, and multi-year commitment to, supervising the FYC program.
We seek a colleague devoted to writing program administration, curriculum innovation, and the growth and development of students and instructors in and beyond the first-year composition classroom. Interest in the role of new technology, especially AI, Indigenous Rhetorics, and in FYC teaching and program administration is desirable. The areas of expertise are open, and we are especially interested in candidates who complement the current research, teaching expertise, and mentorship of graduate students of our faculty in the Rhetoric and Writing Studies program. The successful applicant will join the OSU English Department as well as contribute to interdisciplinary curricular efforts, including general education course design around environmental and science rhetorics. Applicants should have a PhD in rhetoric and writing studies, broadly construed as composition and rhetoric and professional writing.
This hire will teach courses at undergraduate and graduate levels that are part of the Rhetoric and Writing Studies program and serve on graduate exam and advisory committees. The hire will also provide valuable service to the department, the college, and the university.
Salary competitive and commensurate with experience. OSU offers the BA, MFA, and the PhD in English with emphasis in creative writing.
