Assistant Professor Postcolonial, Decolonial, and/or Indigenous literary studies, Open Period

The Department of English at the University of North Texas invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in postcolonial, decolonial and/or Indigenous literary studies with specializations in any related period or area.

The successful candidate will teach a 2-2 course load in our undergraduate, Masters, and Ph.D. programs and will be expected to teach courses with specializations in postcolonial, transatlantic, and/or Native American and Indigenous literatures and cultures, and literary theory. This hire will maintain and expand our developing strengths in race and ethnic studies, which builds on UNT’s status as a majority-minority university.  UNT is an R1 Minority Serving and Hispanic Serving Institution in the vibrant Dallas-Fort Worth metro region.

Our English Department is comprised of energetic faculty involved in robust teaching and research projects in African American, Latinx, 2SLGBTQIA+ Studies, and Women’s and Gender Studies, as well as cutting-edge work in British, American, transatlantic, and Anglophone literatures and cultures; creative writing; and rhetoric.

Applicants should have a publication record commensurate with their experience and should submit a cover letter, CV, 20-30 page writing sample, and a teaching statement that addresses teaching philosophy, general classroom methods, and preparedness to meet the needs of diverse student populations that make up a large portion of our student body. Three letters of recommendation will be requested at a later stage.
