Description
The Carnegie Mellon Department of English seeks an Assistant Professor (beginning or advanced) specializing in gender and sexuality studies. The successful candidate will have a strong role in our Literary and Cultural Studies Program and in our interdisciplinary Gender Studies undergraduate minor. In addition, we seek those who work in Asian American studies; or in film and media studies in a global context. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in Digital Humanities. Successful candidates must have received their PhD by Fall 2024.
Teaching load is 2/2. Carnegie Mellon’s Literary and Cultural Studies program tends to emphasize historical and materialist approaches to culture, with strong interests in theory and in digital humanities. We also have recently started a new film major. The successful candidate will teach doctoral, master’s, and undergraduate courses and have opportunities to mentor individual student projects, as well as join vibrant communities in the humanities and across disciplines.

Qualifications
PhD in English, Cultural Studies, or similar in hand by Fall 2024. Significant scholarly record or evidence of a promising scholarly agenda and evidence of teaching excellence.
