Job Description:
The department of English Language and Literature at Weber State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of English Education who will prepare preservice teachers to effectively teach in secondary settings through equitable and inclusive classroom practices that sustain and affirm K-12 students' identities and lived experiences. We invite candidates with expertise in one or more areas of English Education, including but not limited to: Latinx education, trauma-informed education, critical youth studies, queer studies, children's and young adult literature, and media or digital literacy.
The expected start date for this position is July 1, 2024.

Job Duties:
Expectations for this position include teaching undergraduate courses from first-year composition to upper division and graduate courses; engaging in research; providing service to the department, college, and university; and a demonstrated commitment to student success. The teaching load is typically four (4) courses per semester. The position is salaried and includes a generous benefits package.

  • Ph.D. in English Education, English or a related field;
  • Evidence of effective teaching.

  • Two or more years teaching in secondary schools;
  • Experience collaborating with local area schools and various nonprofit youth and community organizations that support K-12 students, teachers, and stakeholders;
  • Experience teaching online and face-to-face.

Visual Acuity Requirements including color, depth perception and field of vision: Required to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; using a computer terminal; extensive reading.
