Assistant Professor of English (Latinx/Chicanx Literatures)

Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor of English (Latinx/Chicanx Literatures) faculty position in the Department of English that begins August 2024.

Responsibilities

· The faculty member will teach 5 courses per year (3/2 load), including upper-division literature, Latinx/Chicanx literatures, as well as First-Year Composition and General Education Literature.

· The faculty member is expected to establish a record of research activity and publication that evidences progress towards scholarly and creative goals. KSU was recently reclassified as an R2 institution, and the university provides support for research activity including startup funds to support travel and other scholarly activities.

· The faculty member will engage in service that may occur within the Department of English, Radow College of Humanities and Social Sciences, the larger university, and/or the profession. The university particularly values community engagement, and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to support department goals to connect with the Atlanta metro and region.

Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.

PhD, or foreign equivalent, in English or a related field and must have fulfilled their degree requirements by August 1, 2024.

Preferred Qualifications Include

· Record of teaching undergraduate courses in literature and/or first-year composition

· Experience working with a variety of student populations to support student success

· Evidence of teaching practices that support the success and needs of all students.

· Experience teaching in various modalities such as face-to-face, online, or hybrid courses

· Demonstrated active research agenda

· Evidence of scholarship/creative activities such as publications, conference presentations, etc.

· Experience or willingness to collaborate with cross-campus partners including programs in Interdisciplinary Studies and World Languages and Cultures

· Expertise in one or more of the following areas is desirable: American Literatures, Borderlands Theory, Mexican American or Central American Literatures, Gender Studies, Ethnic Literatures such as Afro-Latinx, Caribbean, or Indigenous, or Literature and Popular Culture

· Experience with community engagement
