Assistant Professor of Japanese

The Department of World Languages, Literatures, and Cultures at the University of North Texas seeks to hire an Assistant Professor of Japanese to begin in Fall 2024. The anticipated teaching load is 4 courses per academic year.

We seek outstanding applicants with fluency and mastery in English and Japanese. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in hand by the time of appointment in Japanese or related field. Specialization for this position is open: Japanese pedagogy, linguistics, applied linguistics, cultural studies, film and media studies, literature, or a closely related field.

Successful applicants will demonstrate experience in teaching advanced undergraduate Japanese language courses and courses on topics related to Japan in Japanese, along with an ability to teach in English. The University expects faculty members to maintain an active research agenda and commitment to service (program, department, university, and/or professional organizations).
