The Department of English in the College of Arts and Sciences invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor or tenured Associate Professor, with research interests in Rhetoric and Writing Studies. We seek outstanding applicants whose areas of study emphasize one or more of these areas: digital rhetorics, technical and professional writing, eco-composition, rhetorics of race and new technologies, rhetorics of health and medicine, or cultural rhetorics: Latinx, Black, African diasporic, decolonial, indigenous, feminist. Successful candidates are expected to develop extramurally funded research programs in their areas of expertise, actively participate in the Department's teaching and curriculum development at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and mentor undergraduate and graduate students. Evidence of interest and success in mentoring underrepresented students is highly desired.

The Department of English currently consists of 22 tenured/tenure-track faculty members, conducting research with specializations in African American, American, British and Caribbean and comparative literatures and critical theory. It offers BA and PhD degrees in these areas with focus in Literature, Language, and Writing studies.

Required Qualifications:

• Earned Doctorate in Rhetoric, Writing Studies, or other related field from an accredited institution;
• Record of scholarship, teaching, and professional service commensurate with the rank of assistant professor.
•  Effective communication and organizational skills; and
•  Evidence of successful teaching experience.
