The Section of Spanish and Portuguese is seeking to appoint to the Professorship of Spanish, first established in 1933. The Professorship has been held by some of the most eminent figures in Hispanism and will fall vacant on 31 December upon the retirement of Professor Brad Epps, the current occupant. The Professorship of Spanish is one of the flagship established chairs of the School of Arts and Humanities and one of the pre-eminent chairs in Hispanism in the UK. The faculty seeks a world-class academic with the ability to engage in ground-breaking research, to motivate and support their colleagues, and to inspire the next generation. They will be a figurehead not just for Cambridge Hispanic Studies, but for the discipline as a whole.
