About This Role:

The Department of English and Modern Languages at Lamar University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Spanish beginning Fall 2024. Candidates for Assistant Professor should have a PhD or anticipated PhD completion in Spanish or a related field by August 2024. The search is open with regard to research specialty, although the Department of English and Modern Languages is especially interested in scholars whose research and teaching interests include Spanish Peninsular Literature or Second Language Acquisition and Pedagogies. Most of all, the department seeks scholars who will further its goals of producing high quality research and providing innovative undergraduate education. In addition to area(s) of expertise, the candidate should be able to teach a range of topics and genres at the undergraduate and graduate levels in a variety of modalities. Applicants with an ability to teach Spanish for the Profession are encouraged to apply. Additional responsibilities include developing, implementing, and assessing undergraduate and graduate programs; working closely with other academic and administrative offices; and developing a plan for recruitment, retention, and student success.
