Description
Clemson University's Department of Interdisciplinary Studies invites applications for an outstanding scholar and teacher in Black, decolonial, or queer feminist theories at the assistant professor rank to begin in Fall 2024.
The successful applicant will demonstrate expertise in one of the areas above. We especially seek candidates interested in Theories of Intersectionality, Transnational feminisms, Grassroot women's organizing, Feminist histories/futures, Black/Latinx/Indigenous/Queer sexualities. We also welcome applicants engaged in public scholarship, and the search committee is especially interested to hear from candidates with non-traditional educational backgrounds and those who have experience teaching people under-represented in higher education.
Clemson University is the leading R-1 public land grant institution in South Carolina. The B.A. in Women's Leadership is Clemson's update to a traditional Women's Studies degree and includes a focus on activism, social and organization change, and leadership studies within its core courses. Global Black Studies is a growing program at Clemson that evolved from student demands for a course of study focused on peoples of the African diaspora. Interdisciplinary Studies is a brand new department on campus committed to intellectual and pedagogical innovation.
Qualifications
Candidates should hold a Ph.D. in a humanities or social science field. The successful candidate will be expected to have an active research agenda with a record of publication or publications in progress. They will contribute to all levels of undergraduate education, as well as possibly teaching and mentoring students in the Rhetorics, Communication, and Information Design Ph.D. program.
