The Opportunity
The Department of English in the College of Arts and Humanities (CAH) at the University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applications for a 9-month, tenure-earning assistant professor position in English, with expertise in both linguistics and literature, to teach courses such as Principles of Linguistics, History of the English Language, Language and Meaning, and Linguistics and Literature. We welcome candidates with English-language literary and linguistic specialties in areas such as Old English, 18th-century British literature, and/or indigenous, global, creole, and vernacular linguistics and literatures. The candidate will have an opportunity to develop undergraduate and graduate courses in their areas of specialization.
The successful candidate will contribute to the department’s mission by pursuing an active research agenda, teaching graduate and undergraduate courses (including some courses online), and providing service to the department, college, and university. The appointment carries a 3/2 teaching load.
Minimum Qualifications:
A Ph.D. or equivalent in English or a related discipline from an accredited institution by the time of appointment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to candidates with evidence of success in research and teaching.
