Albion College invites applications for a two-year Visiting Assistant Professor position in 20th- and 21st-century British and postcolonial literature, with an emphasis on writers of color, starting Fall 2024. The English Department has a long-term commitment to diversity in the curriculum and in its faculty and to excellence in teaching and scholarship. We are especially interested in candidates who are excited to teach Albion’s diverse student body and invested in the study of literature as it relates to social justice. Candidates must have an investment in engaged and effective teaching in a liberal arts context, broad intellectual interests, and a record of scholarly activity.
Position responsibilities include designing and teaching courses that offer historical coverage in British and postcolonial literature, specialized upper-level courses, courses in college writing, and introductory and general-education courses that serve the department and the college. A standard teaching load in three courses per semester. Ph.D. in a relevant field required.
The person in this position will actively promote diversity, belonging and equity in all of their interactions with others on campus, especially historically marginalized students, faculty, and staff (e.g., first-generation, undocumented and DACA, LGBTQIA , BIPOC).
