Assistant/Associate Professor of Francophone Studies

The Department of Classical and Modern Languages, Literatures, and Cultures at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan (www.clas.wayne.edu/languages/) invites applications for a fulltime,
tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor in Black Francophone Studies to begin August 19, 2024. Ph.D. in French/Francophone studies required by date of appointment. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. Applicants must have university-level teaching experience and native or near-native fluency in French and English. The successful candidate will teach all levels of French and Francophone language, literature, and culture, create courses in Black Francophone Studies in French and English, and have a developing or established scholarly research program in Francophone African Studies. We welcome
candidates who have an interest in any area of African Studies, including Colonial/Postcolonial Studies, Global/Transnational Studies, Film/Media Studies, Environmental Studies, etc. The candidate would be expected to teach 2 courses per semester, mentor undergraduate, MA, and PhD students, and demonstrate promise in their field of research.
