Position Description

The Department of  English at California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) invites applications for a Tenured position at the rank of Associate Professor or Full Professor (12-month) with the appointment starting in Fall 2024.

The Position

The Department of English at CSUDH invites applications for a full time, tenure-track position, Associate or Full Professor, who can direct our composition program, which is comprised of general education, B.A., and M.A. programs. The specific subfield of specialization in English is open, though priority will be given to scholars with demonstrated research in rhetoric and composition, writing studies, and/or writing program administration, with a strong interest in anti-racist pedagogies. The candidate will direct the English composition program, teach graduate and undergraduate courses, and supervise student research. We prioritize applicants whose research, teaching and/or scholarship in English address or contribute to social justice.

 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Applicants must have experience in working with students from diverse age, socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds.
Ph.D. in English or closely related field.
A promising research agenda likely to lead to publications in rhetoric and composition and/or writing program administration and/or writing studies.
Preferred /Desired Qualifications

Demonstrated record of excellent teaching for a minimum of five years. 
Professional experience that demonstrates ability to work with and teach non-traditional students.

 A United States (US) Equivalency certification is required for earned/awarded/conferred foreign terminal degrees, which is from a foreign Academic Institution for foreign studies. The US Equivalency certification is used to validate foreign studies from an academic credential evaluation agency and is evaluated on foreign studies and deemed to be equivalent to degrees from the United States. The certification must translate the information in English, and confirm that your highest terminal degree is US Equivalent to a US terminal degree (i.e., Bachelor’s, Master’s, Doctorate’s, Doctor’s of Philosophy).
