The School of International Letters and Cultures (SILC) at ARIZONA STATE UNIVERSITY invites applications for the position of Instructor in the area of French Language Pedagogy with appointment beginning August 16, 2024.
Essential Functions: The successful candidate will be expected to teach as needed lower- and upper-division online, in-person, and hybrid courses in French and English, to hold office hours, and to work closely with the program director and coordinators of the French program to prepare course materials, assessment, syllabi, and assignments. This is an in-person, full-time, benefits-eligible, non-tenure eligible appointment made on an academic year basis (Aug.16 – May 15). A typical full-time course load is four classes per academic semester. Subsequent annual renewal is possible contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of resources, the needs of the university, and sufficient enrollment in assigned courses.

Minimum Qualifications:
- M.A. in French, or related field, by time of appointment.
- Three years’ experience in higher education teaching French language courses.
- Evidence of effective online teaching.
- Evidence of native/near-native proficiency in both French and English.
- Demonstrated commitment to working with faculty, staff, students and communities to advance the principles of the ASU Charter.
Desired Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in French Literature, French Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, or a related field by time of appointment.
- Demonstrated experience with French program promotion and outreach to diverse communities.
- Demonstrated evidence of research interests related to French language or Francophone culture.
- Demonstrated expertise in French teaching methodologies.
- Demonstrated proficiency in appropriate technologies in language instruction.
