Assistant Professor, English specializing in eighteenth-century anglophone literature

New College of Florida invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of English specializing in eighteenth-century Anglophone literature with a focus on English, trans-Atlantic, and/or global approaches. 
 
Ability to teach across genres, geographies, and time periods, especially into the nineteenth-century, is desirable. We are interested in applicants whose teaching and research includes Medical Humanities, Digital Humanities, Environmental Studies, Media Studies, or other critical approaches to literature. Applicants who can add to our existing interdisciplinary programs, including Environmental Studies; International and Area Studies; and Health, Culture, and Society are encouraged to apply and to note possible teaching collaborations in their materials. New College faculty collaborate with colleagues across the college’s liberal arts curriculum and are encouraged to affiliate with interdisciplinary programs and co-teach courses.
 
New College seeks teacher-scholars who will contribute to its liberal arts mission. The teaching load is two courses per semester plus sponsoring individual and group tutorials. In addition, faculty members provide academic advising, supervise independent study projects, sponsor senior undergraduate thesis/projects, and serve on baccalaureate examination committees. The successful candidate is expected to establish and maintain a program of scholarly research or creative work. We are particularly interested in candidates who have a demonstrated commitment to innovative undergraduate liberal arts teaching.

3. unofficial graduate transcript(s)
4. statements of teaching philosophy, 
5. writing sample (published or unpublished),
6. contact information for three references, and
7. three brief course descriptions (300-500 words), one for an introductory class, and two advanced topical courses related to the candidate’s expertise.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates should have PhD in hand by August 2024 and documented teaching experience. A PhD in English, Comparative Literature, or closely related field with degree completed at the time of appointment (August 2024).
