The Department of Spanish and Portuguese is seeking to appoint part-time or full-time Lecturers in Spanish, beginning February 1, 2020 or during the 2020-21 academic year, with the possibility of renewal pending departmental need and satisfactory performance. Appointment duty time will depend upon course enrollments.
Native or near-native fluency in Spanish and English, and proven experience in teaching Spanish at the university level, are absolutely essential. Master’s degree or enrollment in a Ph.D. program required; Ph.D. or M.A. working toward Ph.D. preferred. Preference will be given to candidates with a background in Linguistics, SLA, or Applied Linguistics, although other fields will also be considered when there is evidence of sustained experience teaching Spanish at the university level. Proven experience in coordination (course, level, or program) will be a plus.
Interested candidates should apply online at AHIRE. Applications must include the following items:
1. Curriculum vitae, including description of teaching experience
2. Contact information for three professional references
3. Cover letter
4. Teaching portfolio, including teaching philosophy, teacher evaluations, and sample syllabi and materials
Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until any positions are filled. Due to the volume of applications, only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.
This position is subject to the University's background check policy.
