Assistant Professor of English & Composition

Bethany College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in English & Composition at the Assistant Professor rank to begin Fall 2024.

The successful candidate will have competence in teaching Composition I and II, Literature (American and/or British), as well as assist in teaching Technical Writing and Writing for Business and Industry or Writing for College and Community.  An interest in Creative Writing and in particular poetry is a must for this position.  The candidate should have earned a Ph.D. in English with a Creative Writing focus.  ABDs will be considered with the expectation that the candidate will have completed the doctorate degree by the time of appointment. Evidence of successful teaching at the undergraduate level is preferred.

Bethany College is a teaching institution committed to excellence in teaching and faculty members teach a 4-4 load. However, in the first-year candidates will be teaching a 3-3 load.  Faculty are expected to engage in undergraduate advising, engaging in research/scholarship, participate in curriculum development and assessment, and serve on department and college committees.
