The Department of Romance Studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is currently seeking applications for four Teaching Assistant Professors of Spanish. The successful candidates will be responsible for teaching a 3-3 course load and participating in departmental service. The course load will include Spanish language courses as well as courses in other areas of the Spanish curriculum such as: Spanish for heritage learners, Spanish translation and interpretation, and/or Spanish for the Professions. Appointment begins July 1, 2024. This is a 3-year appointment with benefits and the possibility of renewal.
Required minimum qualifications are: Native or near-native proficiency in Spanish and English; Ph.D. in Spanish, Romance Studies, or related field at time of employment and a record of teaching excellence at the university level for at least one year (or an MA in Spanish, Romance Studies, or related field plus a record of teaching excellence at the university level for at least three years).
