The German Department at Bowdoin College invites applications for a full-time, benefits-eligible visiting assistant professor position for the 2024-2025 academic year. The appointment is for a one-year sabbatical replacement and begins July 1, 2024. Research specialization is open. Candidates who allow us to expand our curriculum in new directions are preferred. Near-native fluency in German is required, as well as an excellent command of English for courses taught as part of the college-wide curriculum. The teaching load is normally two courses per semester, with the occasional addition of another section of one of those courses. A Ph.D. in German or a related field is expected by the date of appointment.
