Assistant Professor of Spanish / Latin American & Caribbean Studies / Race, Equity, Inclusion

The Department of Hispanic Studies at the College of Charleston seeks to fill a tenure-track position for an Assistant Professor of Spanish, with a focus in Latin American and Caribbean Cultural Studies and demonstrated experience in Race, Equity and Inclusion studies.

We seek a dedicated teacher of undergraduates in Spanish at all levels, as well as one with the ability to engage in extra-departmental programs, such as those related to the M.Ed. in Languages, Honors College and the First Year Experience programs.

3/3 course load. Ph.D. required at the time of appointment, with at least 2 years of full-time collegiate teaching experience (experiential learning and online teaching experience a plus), native or near-native fluency in Spanish and strong command of English. The successful candidate will present a coherent and cohesive research program with the promise for future scholarly production.

Additional duties may include, but are not restricted to, participating in department and college functions; advising students and clubs; occasional directing of summer and/or semester study abroad programs in Spain and Latin America, and other service-related activities. Position begins August 16, 2024; full benefits and competitive salary.
