Assistant Professor of English

The Department of English at The University of the South in Sewanee, TN invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor in Modern and Contemporary American literature with research and teaching interests in ecocriticism and literature of the environment, beginning August 2020.

The instructional load will be 5 courses per year, and the candidate will be expected to teach our introductory Literature and Composition course (which always includes a play by Shakespeare), as well as upper-level courses that can serve the English major and the Arts and Humanities major in Environmental Studies.

We are seeking candidates with a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and who are engaged in serious scholarship. A Ph.D. is required at time of appointment.
