Lecturer

The Department of English at Rice University seeks candidates for a two-year appointment as a lecturer in pre-1900 American Literature with a possibility of a one-year extension. The Department is particularly interested in applicants who demonstrate a record of excellent research and innovative teaching.

The appointment will begin July 1, 2024. This is a benefits eligible, non-tenure track position and with a 4 course teaching load (2 courses per semester). Applicants should have a PhD in English in hand by June 30, 2024.

To apply, submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, a teaching statement (no more than 2 pages), recent teaching evaluations, one writing sample (no more than 25 pages), and two letters of reference.
