The Department of Eastern, Slavic, and German Studies at Boston College seeks a Visiting Assistant Professor in German Studies for the academic year 2024–2025 to teach advanced language and culture courses in German and Core literature/culture courses in English.
This is a full-time, non-tenure-track appointment with a 3/3 teaching load for a non-renewable term beginning July 1, 2024. Courses to be taught tentatively include two advanced German language courses, one survey of German literary history, and one bridge course conducted in German on a topic of the candidate’s choosing, and two courses conducted in English that conform to the learning goals of the University Core Program.
We seek a colleague with native or near-native fluency in German, Ph.D. in hand by July 1, evidence of excellence in teaching German at the college level, and willingness to participate actively in the life of the department. We are especially interested in candidates who can participate and teach effectively in inter- and cross-disciplinary programs across the Morrissey College of Arts and Sciences.

Finalists will be asked to submit sample syllabi and teaching evaluations. Review of applications will begin March 15, 2024.
