Visiting Assistant Professor of Interdisciplinary Studies

The Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts at Coastal Carolina University is seeking applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor of Interdisciplinary Studies position to begin August 2024.  We welcome applicants from any discipline whose teaching, research, and/or creative agenda demonstrates interdisciplinary engagement with Middle Eastern Studies or African & African Diaspora Studies. Candidates must hold a terminal degree in an appropriate field/discipline by the time of appointment and are expected to have experience teaching interdisciplinary courses at the university level. We seek teacher-scholars who will serve as mentors for our diverse student body and who have a demonstrated commitment to student success. The salary for this position is nationally competitive, and the base teaching load is three courses per semester (including one course in the candidate’s area of expertise; a graduate-level course in the M.A. in Liberal Studies program is a possibility).

Required qualifications:

  • a Ph.D. in an appropriate discipline/field in hand by the start of the appointment
  • a strong record of teaching interdisciplinary courses to students from a wide range of backgrounds and levels of preparation
  • evidence of an active interdisciplinary research and/or interdisciplinary creative agenda
