Visiting Assistant Professor of German

The Department of World Languages, Literatures & Cultures of Auburn University invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor in German for a one-year appointment, starting fall semester 2024.

This is a full-time nine-month, non-tenure eligible position. Teaching load is 3/3 per academic year of mostly elementary- and intermediate-level German. If the need exists, the candidate may be asked to teach in their area of specialization. Minimum qualifications include PhD in German, German Linguistics, or German as a Foreign Language by the date that employment begins; native or near-native fluency in German and English; college-level teaching experience; positive teaching evaluations; and familiarity with current language pedagogy and the ACTFL Guidelines. Candidates must be willing to participate in extra-curricular activities (such as Stammtisch, German Film Series, German Club, German Honor Society) to help promote enrollment and participation in the German Studies program and concurrent degree program with engineering. Desired qualifications include teaching experience at the college level in the US, positive teaching evaluations, and familiarity with current language pedagogy.

The candidate selected for this position must meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time the appointment is scheduled to begin, and to continue working legally for the proposed term of employment.
