One Year Visiting Assistant Professor in German - post 1832

The Department of German at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor in German for the 2024-2025 academic year.  

Desired requirements for this one-year appointment include: 

  • Period of specialization: open (post 1832);  

  • Area of specialization: cultural production and social change across media and genres (literature, theater, film, digital media);  

  • Background in Critical Theory, Frankfurt School, Marxism highly desired;  

  • Ability to teach German at all levels;  

  • Open to contributing to co-curricular activities in the department, the university and outside community.  

An excellence in undergraduate teaching is required and a near-native knowledge of German is a minimum requirement. A PhD in German Studies is also required by time of employment.
