Assistant Professor of Spanish

Doane University, a liberal arts university with campuses in Crete and Lincoln, and an Omaha Location, invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Spanish (tenure track) to begin in fall 2024 on our Crete Campus. Doane’s Spanish program offers a B.A., a minor, and certificates. It values teaching methods and experiential learning, including study abroad, that allows students to be linguistically proficient, multi-literate, and culturally competent global citizens. Doane’s main residential campus is in Crete, approximately 20 miles from Lincoln. It is a culturally and linguistically diverse community with nearly half of the population being Hispanic. Our Spanish program maintains a strong relationship with the Spanish-speaking community in Crete.

 

The successful candidate will teach all levels of Spanish including elementary, intermediate, and advanced language classes; as well as literature and culture, especially in relation to Latin America. Preference may be given to a candidate who is interested in seeking cultural and service connections with the community described above. They will also have the opportunity to teach in Doane’s liberal arts seminar curriculum. A typical teaching load is 21 credit hours per year.

Minimum Required Qualifications

Ph.D. or Advanced ABD in Spanish or a related field and a strong commitment to teaching in an undergraduate liberal arts university.
