Visiting Assistant Professor of Latinx Literature

The Department of English at St. Mary’s College of Maryland is accepting applications for a one-year appointment as Visiting Assistant Professor of Latinx Literature in English, beginning August 2024 for the 2024-2025 academic year with a potential to renew. Applicants with expertise in Latin American Literature, Chicanx Literature, Comparative Literature, or Afro-Latinx Literature are especially encouraged to apply.  Teaching responsibilities may include Introduction to Literature, Creative Writing, and topics courses in the candidate’s area of specialty. All professors at St. Mary’s are expected to contribute to the college-wide core curriculum and their departmental curriculum.

Qualifications: Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Latinx Studies or a related field and be committed to excellence in undergraduate teaching.  Proficiency in Spanish strongly desired. An interest in attracting and retaining students from underrepresented groups is desirable. The successful candidate must produce the necessary documentation to legally work in the U.S. upon hire.
